In August, Singapore's indie music scene will rejuvenate itself with a fresh crop of bands at Baybeats 07. Presenting a new flock of young bands in town that will be playing their first BIG gig at Baybeats! They may not be any familiar names YET but thanks to their drive and talent, we're pretty sure you'll be hearing A LOT from them in 2007.

So without further ado, we present you a short feature of the auditions, and the 10 bands that made it through.

The countdown to Baybeats 07 has begun. In August this year, the Baybeats indie music festival returns for the 6th successive year. This website which you now see will soon be magically transformed to showcase the latest Baybeats news and information. You’ll be able to check out the event schedules, one-on-one interviews with the artists and take part in the upcoming contests and promotions.

Baybeats 07 is going to be bigger and better. First and foremost, we will be showcasing the best of the bands that took part in the Baybeats auditions (We’ll give you a sneak preview of the bands and their performance at the auditions soon). These bands are all gearing up to bring the house down at Baybeats 07. They need your support so be sure to be there and cheer your lungs out for them. And of course, we will have our local, regional and international line-up (which we’re not announcing yet) and our Observation Deck that will feature close-up discussions and acoustic sessions with selected artists.

Just to add a bit more excitement to the festival, we’ll be messing with the Baybeats formula a little bit this year, so sign up to be on the mailing list if you want to be the first to know what and who we’re bringing to the festival.

Stay tuned for our next announcement when we reveal the latest additions to the festival and heighten your excitement for Baybeats 07.

It's the end of Baybeats 2006 and all of you - artists, producers, music fans - were great.

You rocked your hearts out to three full days of music from 14-16 July and made the festival truly your own.

We would like to thank all our fantastic artists to who took part in this music festival, our brilliant producers Awakening Productions and all who supported us and helped make this event a success. What's more, we would like to thank our audience - the heart and soul of Baybeats. Thanks for the fun, sweat and memories!

We'll see you next year.

Don’t run! That’s just the bloodcurdling scream of us greeting the much-anticipated arrival of BAYBEATS!

Quick, get yourself over here this Friday 14 July by 7.30pm! Cause wait one moment more and you’ll be flailing around sadly by yourself at the back of the crowds over here instead of being right at the heart of the jostling, thrashing, moshing action!

You’ll also not want to miss out on the exclusive BAYBEATS merch, CDs and other cool stuff from Motorola.

SEE YOU HERE AT BAYBEATS!

Soon, it’ll be three whole days of… no sickly sweet ballads, no way-too-smooth pimpin’ songs... just great live music from great artists who just want to well and truly ROCK IT OUT with all of us.

And bring your friends, it’ll be cheap. In fact, all the performances are FREE!

Things seldom get this good, boys and girls.

Check out our performance schedule, band interviews, the Baybeats Lanyard (thanks to Motorola) and more cool stuff at www.baybeats.com.sg!

We've got Art with a true underground rock attitude too.

In the Tunnel, look out for exhibition Surface and Structure by Jaz Loh & DJ Tommy. While Jaz deconstructs elements from mass popular culture and remixes them out of their original context to reveal their true meaning unadulterated by media hype, DJ Tommy, Hong Kong’s premier scratchmaster and producer who has played alongside great international spinners and acts like Prodigy (that’s right THE Prodigy), DJ Shadow, DJ Krush and DJ Food, sets the mood with his music to create an entirely edgy experience.

At the Observation Deck (Arts Cafe, Library@Esplanade), artist Derek Hess, whose work has transformed rock concert posters, album covers and more into works of art coveted by rock bands, the Louvre and art lovers alike, lets you into the labyrinth of his mind! Get to know what inspires his dark, apocalyptic imagery and dig deep into his rocky past.

It's plain to see, Baybeats is SO MUCH MORE than your average music festival. So we're gonna do what other people won't tell you to - come and STORM our venues, FLOOD our website and GO ALTERNATIVE!

...at Baybeats. And it's not just the great rock bands, the free music, the good-looking crowd, the cool merchandise or the funky stickers...We are also giving away exclusive Baybeats LANYARDS (thanks to our sponsor Motorola) and Baybeats BROCHURES during the festival.

In fact, the brochures are ALREADY available at jamming studios, pubs and clubs near you! You'll recognise them for their small size (fits any wallet or pocket!) and exciting Baybeats schedule and promos. So keep your amps down and eyes peeled...Cos they are limited edition only!

Wanna be a MUSICIAN? Dreaming of starting a RECORD LABEL? Trying to make it as an UNDERGROUND ARTIST?

Hold on to your sanity at BAYBEATS this year as the Observation Deck (Arts Cafe, Library@Esplanade) adds the most INTIMATE twist ever to the Baybeats experience! No, we don't mean for you to do as groupies do. At the Observation Deck, our haven of peace amidst chaos, our calm in the eye of the storm, renowned names from the international rock industry share with you their life stories and trade secrets.

Don't miss out on getting great tips on making it big in the world of rock. Come LEARN from the experts.

The underground cult favourite from USA will be here on 16 Jul to play at Esplanade's Arena from 10.30pm to 11.15pm. Miss them and you'll be sorry you did."

  No need to pinch yourself.

Soon, it'll be three whole days of... no sickly sweet ballads, no way-too-smooth pimpin' songs... just great live music from artists who just wanna ROCK IT OUT with all of us.

So now if you all are feeling somewhat Bittersweet, like you are part of the Furniture in society, don't go weird on us and start chanting "Panda No Panda", and raving about conspiracy theories and The Great Spy Experiment. Come out from behind the Ferns, dig that goopy Beezewax out of your ears and Hear Me Toby, Osman, Ming, or whatever your name is.

For I have Nothing to Declare. Just a promise that these three days of BAYBEATS will not be A Vacant Affair, but an out-of-this-world, perky-as-Tiramisu, Astreal experience.

Bring your friends, or for a long time you'll be hearing gut-wrenching Concave Screams from those unfortunate Lunarins who missed BAYBEATS. No matter if you are One Buck Short. All the performances are FREE! Things seldom get this good, boys and girls.
